So I’ve been tasked to make a short 15 second advert for my creative technologies assignment… this should be easy for me considering I’ve been making YouTube videos for the past year – there’s one massive problem though – I’m really stuck for ideas… I’ve been thinking and thinking but can’t really come up with anything substantial. I’ve got it narrowed down to about 3 areas that I might like to do:

• A fake motion picture trailer
• The beginning to an alternate reality game (A.R.G.)
• An advert for my website

The first one gives me the most creative leeway – I’m thinking of a horror – but I need some actors for it. The second would be the most complex to design – I could even put in a password to crack to allow the user to watch the video or something like that. The final idea is probably the easiest… but probably not that fun/creative to do because I already have all my assets from the website to utilise. I think I’ll go for the first one… which means I need some actors.

If I was to make the trailer I think I’d be either using the premise of The Slender Man or that of Zalgo but I’m not sure. I’ll need people to be in it – even with only 15 seconds to fill I’m going to need quite a few people. I’ll probably have an ask around tomorrow after the lecture… or on Facebook if the worst comes to the worse.

I’m really looking forward to getting to use the editing tools such as after effects for the first time since I left home for uni – that and getting my hands on those cameras and tripods… I bought some tapes today and have three hours worth of footage to fill them with! (Not that I’ll probably need that much… but you can never be too careful.
