For our second game we must use the theme of colour! I’ve taken this and woven it into a story for a platformer called Opacity. You play a small and adorable little creature called Tinge – he is tasked with bring back the colour to a dream-world that has been ripped apart by a dark and mysterious cloaked villain called The Hooded Nightmare. You must travel to all the different areas of the dream-world and collect the different colours in order to banish The Hooded Nightmare and his minions from the land.
So… making a platformer isn’t a picnic. I’ve been using the GML coding for Game Maker to make my character walk around – I’ll post up the coding once I’ve completed it. I’m going to work mostly with the ordinary event system most of the time though – GML is flexible but I’m not that skilled in it yet to complete a whole platform game engine.
I’ve completed the standing sprite for Tinge – I’m sure you’ll agree… hes pretty damn cute:
So yeah… that’s what I’ve got at the moment – I think I’ll look at some colour theory tomorrow to make my art for the game emotive using colour.
