I’ve been screwing around with different ideas for new blocks – some work, most don’t in the slightest. I’ve definitely finished one new one though:
THE DEFENDER BLOCK
These ones are the first ‘enemies’ ive implemented into the game – they’re basically turrets that are capable of firing a homing ‘deletion ball’ at random intervals. These will have to be quickly eliminated by the player to avoid becoming overwhelmed by the attackers.
I’ve also tried eliminating the ‘spammy’ element from the game – I was getting annoyed that all people did was hit the space bar until they developed wankers cramp (The most deadly of British diseases) to address this problem I made the bombs take out a larger area, limited the amount that could be fired every pass and finally added a loss of points for every miss with a bomb… not a very big drop in points… but enough to discourage spamming.
I’ve also gotten in contact with my good friend and awesome musician Will Bryce. He writes music for almost all my creations and this one I deemed should be no exception! I’ve given him pretty much free reign with the sound track – as long as it remains ‘arcadey’ and gives a sense that you are hacking a system… I’m quite interested in what he’s going to come up with.
There’s so much more I can add to this game the possibilities for different blocks and level designs are only really limited by my imagination… the Game Maker is actually really versatile. So for now I’m gonna work on it in my spare time to develop it fully. I think the next project we are doing is based on colour – so its time to get thinking of some interesting ideas for that! I’ll put up some screen shots when I’m thinking its about finished.
